Becoming a Rotarian --- What is required and how to join
Thanks for your interest in becoming a Rotarian. Rotary International (RI) is an association of
individual clubs which follow the general guidelines of Rotary International, but operate autonomously. You will find that Rotary clubs all are unique. Like people, Rotary clubs are similar
in many ways, but each club has its own personality.
Membership in San Clemente Rotary offers many benefits, including:
Improve business and professional contacts
Develop leadership and public speaking skills
Become informed about what is happening within the community.
Establish lasting friendships with really nice people.....and most important,
Gain the opportunity to serve others in your community and in the world.
The principal requirements for Rotary membership is that:
1. The man or woman have a genuine desire to be of service to others,
2. Be a leader in their respective business or professional field and,
3. Conduct their professional and personal life with a high level of integrity and ethics.
Membership in Rotary is by invitation so if you know a San Clemente Rotarian who can
sponsor your membership, tell him or her that you would like to attend a weekly meeting. If this is
not possible please contact Paul Henry membership chairman) by phone (949 429-2022) or
email (paulhenryrealtor@cox.net) Visitors are always welcome at our Wednesday Noon meetings. By attending one or more meetings, you will get to know the club and the club members will get to
know you as you visit.
The business or professional classification of a potential member is a factor in becoming a Rotarian. Rotary International requires that the membership of each club have a balanced representation of the business and professional population within the community served and that membership should not be over represented by one business classification or another. For this
reason, membership in a Rotary club requires that the business or professional classification of a potential member be open and available within the club.
When visiting our Rotary club, you are encouraged to ask a member or the membership
chairman ( Paul Henry ) for a membership brochure. Ask about what service projects the club
has in the community and in other countries and feel free to inquire about the club dues and
financial obligations of membership. Lee or other Rotarians will be glad to answer your questions.
