What is Rotary ?

Rotary International was founded in 1905 and is one of the world's largest service organizations, with over 1.2 million members from 32,500 clubs in more than 200 countries.  Rotarians  represent a cross section  of the business and professional leaders in their respective communities. Rotary clubs are nonpolitical, nonsectarian and are open to men and women from all cultures, races and creeds.

The main objective of Rotary is service. In fact, the Rotary motto is "Service Above Self."
Rotary clubs develop and support a wide variety of programs which serve youth, senior
citizens, the disadvantaged and handicapped.
Internationally, Rotary provides  scholarships
and sponsors educational exchange programs for students and business professionals. Additionally, Rotary clubs in the developed world partner with Rotary clubs in under developed countries to improve local health and educational conditions in those countries.

The most significant Rotary International accomplishment in recent years  is Polio Plus which is a program to eradicate polio by immunizing all children throughout the   world.  Begun in the 1980's, Rotary has contributed US $500 million to this cause  as well as  providing a virtual army of volunteersto assist at national immunization days in polio-endemic countries around the world.

on Saturday evening, June 5.  Once again this year, the evening will be highlighted by the music of Pete Jacob’s and his War Time Radio Revue Band  that has been enthusiastically received by San Clemente Jazz festival audiences for the past two years.  With  their three  female vocalists, a hot, driving rhythm section, and eight-piece horn section, the “classic-swing” sound of the Pete Jacob’s 16 piece band is both full and authentic! Take a stroll down memory lane as Pete plays the hits of the Thirties and Forties. It’s a dancer’s delight!

This year’s Swing Night Dinner Dance promises to be better than ever and starts off with Tony Carbonara’s pasta dinner from 6 PM to 7 PM followed with dancing from 7 PM to 10 PM.
